Implementing an Advanced Security System to Protect Global Users

In June 2025, the Korean Haiku Society for the Exchange of Modernity (KHSEM) officially launched a comprehensive security upgrade as it transforms into a world digital platform for haiku creation and exchange.

KHSEM is a multilingual system (Korean, English, Japanese) that enables individuals and organizations worldwide to register, submit haiku, and participate in collaborative events. To ensure user safety and platform reliability across borders and time zones, KHSEM has implemented the following core security features:

Login Protection & IP Monitoring: Suspicious access attempts are monitored in real time. If repeated login failures are detected, the user’s IP address may be temporarily restricted, with CAPTCHA or email re-authentication steps enforced.

GeoIP-Based Timezone Assignment: During registration and login, KHSEM automatically sets the user's timezone based on their IP country. This helps align deadlines, event times, and message timestamps accurately across the globe.

CSRF & Password Hashing: All key forms, including registration, use CSRF tokens to prevent forgery, and passwords are encrypted with modern hashing algorithms for secure storage.

Security Event Logging: Every major user or administrator action—such as login, logout, registration, profile updates—is recorded in a unified security log, which administrators can audit through a dedicated dashboard.

Real-Time Email Verification & Multi-Step Signup: New users must verify their email before proceeding to the final registration stage, preventing fake or mass bot registrations.

Administrator-Level Access Controls: Actions by superadmins, general admins, and organization-level managers are tracked with detailed logs and filters by role, action type, and time period.

Future Enhancements (Planned): KHSEM plans to introduce login alerts, multi-device session management, and suspicious login detection based on country changes and user-agent fingerprinting.

This upgraded architecture ensures that KHSEM not only serves as a creative and cultural hub for haiku, but also upholds the highest standards in data protection, member safety, and administrative transparency on a world scale.
