After spring rain

cherry blossom scent remains

calling to the road

— Kim Soo Hyun —

This year's “Haiku of the Year” is a work that captures a short moment of eternity in the flow of the four seasons. It captures the scent of cherry blossoms that unfold after the spring rain stops, and the journey drawn to that scent in a three-line poem. The fact that it left room for imagination for readers and satisfied the five senses with simple language and white space was highly praised. This work received the highest honor at the KHSEM World Grand Prix 2025, where haiku enthusiasts from around the world gathered, and it was recorded as a representative example of the emotion that transcends time and space in haiku.
